Hadith

It was narrated from “Aishah that the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad   ﷺ) said:
“Breaking the bones of the deceased is like ( i.e. sin of ) breaking his bones when he is alive.”

* As we know that in the graveyard, there are some graves already present there some are very old, but as the time passes dead body dismissed by the earth the last thing dismissed is bone.
* So in the graveyard find the place where there should not any signs of old grave
* In that case either there is no grave before or if there was any the body inside was completely dismissed by the earth.
* Because as the Prophet Muhammadﷺ said
“Breaking the bones of the deceased is like breaking his bones when he is alive”

  • What should say when placing the deceased in the grave
Hadith
It was narrated that Ibn “Umar said:
“When the deceased was placed in the grave, the Prophet  ( of Allah, Muhammad  ﷺ) would say:
 “Bismillah, wa “ala millati rasul-illah
(In the Name of Allah (the Almighty) and according to the religion of the Messenger of Allah).
 Abu Khalid said on one occasion, when the deceased was placed in the grave:
“Bismillah wa “ala sunnati rasul- illah
 (In the Name of Allah (the Almighty) and according to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah).
 Hisham said in his narration:
 “Bismillah, wa fi sabil-illah, wa “ala millati rasul-illah
(In the Name of Allah (the Almighty), for the sake of Allah and according to the religion of the Messenger of Allah).”

  • What type of grave should be dug

It was narrated that “Aishah said:

“When the Messenger of Allah ( Muhammad saws) died, they (Companions) differed as to whether his grave should have a niche or a ditch in the ground, until they (Companions) spoke and raised their voices concerning that. Then “Umar (ibn al khattab  )said: “Do not shout in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad  ﷺ), living or dead,’ or words to that effect. So they sent for both the (man ) one who made a niche and the (man) one who dug graves without a niche, and the one who used to make a niche came and dug a grave with a niche for the Allah’s massanger (Muhammad saws), then he ( Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) was buried.”

It was narrated from Hisham bin “Amir that the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad ﷺ) said:
“Dig the grave deep, make it (grave) spacious and prepare it well.”

 * In the time of Prophet Muhammadﷺ there were two people who dug the grave
one who made a niche and the one who dug graves without a niche, and the one who used to make a niche came and dug a grave with a niche for the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ),
* So this is the ruling of islam that there are two types of grave, it is upto the choice of people whatever they feel convenience for them they can do so

  • What may do and what should not at the grave
Hadith

It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that the Messenger of Allah ( Muhammad ﷺ) marked the grave of “Uthman bin Maz’un with a rock.

It was narrated that Jabir said:

“The Messenger of Allah (Muhammad ﷺ) forbade plastering over graves.”

  • What should do after buried deceased
Hadith

Narrated Uthman ibn Affan:

Whenever the Prophet (Muhammad ﷺ) became free from burying the dead, he (Prophet pbuh) used to stay at him (i.e. his grave) and say: Seek forgiveness (from Almighty Allah swt) for your brother, and beg steadfastness for him, for he will be questioned now.

  • Does dead hears the stepping sound of their shoes of people
 
Hadith

Narrated Anas:

The Prophet (Muhammad ﷺ) as saying: When a servant (of Almighty Allah ) is placed in his grave, and his Companions depart from him, he hears the stepping sound of their shoes.
