Dear brothers and sisters in our day to day life we often listen in television news or in newspapers that a girl is forced for marriage,or any woman marriaged forcefully
or a woman do suicide because her parents marry against her will etc.
Can a girl or boy should forced for marriage ?
Who has final decision of choice of her or his spouse ?
Can a marriage be cancelled if husband or wife are against that marriage ?
So let us know what Islam say about right of choice for marriage in the light of authentic teaching of Prophet Muhammadﷺ

Taking permission for arranging marriage


Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (Muhammadﷺ) said:

“A previously married woman should not be married until her consent has been sought, and a virgin (which is not married yet ) should not be married until her permission has been sought.” They said: “O Messenger of Allah (saws), what is her (vergin ) permission?” 
He said (answered): “If she remains silent.


Sunan an-Nasa’i     Book 26, Hadith 72

What if girl don’t want to live with her husband


It was reported from Khansa’ bint Khidham that her father married her off when she had been previously married, and she was unwilling (don’t like). She went to the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad pbuh) and he annulled the marriage.


Sunan an-Nasa’i     Book 26, Hadith 73


It was narrated from ‘Aishah:

A girl came to her (hz Aishah) and said: ‘My father married me to his brother’s son so that he might raise his own status thereby, and I was unwilling.’ She (Hz Aisha)said: ‘Sit here until the Prophet comes.’ Then the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) came, and I told him (what she had said). He sent word to her father, calling him, and he left the matter up to her. She (the girl) said: ‘O Messenger of Allah( Muhammad saws), I accept what my father did, but I wanted to know whether women have any say in the matter.’

In-book : Book 26, Hadith 74

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:

The  Allah’s massanger (prophet Muhammad saws) said: ‘An orphan girl should be consulted with regard to marriage, and if she remains silent, that is her permission. If she refuses then she is not to be forced (for marriage)

Sunan an-Nasa’i    Book 26, Hadith 7

 Conclusion 👇
* In Islam nighter a woman /girl nor a man / boy can be forced for marriage
He / she has absolutely right to choose a spouse for himself / herself ,
* If guardian want to arrange marriage for his son or daughter they must be take agreement
* If any parents or  guardian arrange marriage for a girl or boy , then the girl or boy has rights to cancel the marriage
